Rohan Dacosta is a man whose vision is to make a difference. Since an early age, Rohan has displayed a special passion for his family and his community. He is especially caring when it comes to serving others, and it is the impetus that drives him to want to serve as the next Business Manager Secretary of Treasure for the Construction and Craft Workers Local Union 1652.
Rohan is a true self-starter and a natural born leader. Rohan holds a degree in Business Management and is the proud business owner of a clothing store in northwest Miami. He does all of this while working as a Labor Foreman at Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant in southwest Miami,FL. Rohan's idol is the late Joseph Caleb (a labor union pioneer in Miami-Dade County during the 1960’s and 70’s.) Rohan also grew up in a labor union family; his uncle is a proud, retired union plumber. "I want to enhance the current status of our union," says Rohan. "There are new and innovative things that we can do to be more visible and vigilant in the local community, these new innovations, along with traditional practice will help to propel our union to another level,” he says.
Rohan has always put others first. He was instrumental in helping several of his union brothers and sisters while they were in need, raising more than $8,000 for one of his local union brothers who was injured in a severe car accident. He also raised more than $7,500 for another local union sister after she was out of work for many weeks when her son became injured while trimming a tree for a customer. And Rohan was also recognized as a local hero when, on his day off from work, he noticed a 19-month-old child floating in a lake near his house and he immediately jumped in the lake, retrieved the young toddler, and administered CPR until medics arrived. This act of heroism saved the young child's life. Later, Rohan was featured on local news stations in Miami-Dade County, and honored by leaders at Florida Power and Light (FPL), where he works as a Labor Foreman.
I sincerely ask that you cast your vote for Rohan Dacosta as the next Business Manager Secretary of Treasure for Local 1652. "They say it can't be done - we say it can!"
